APJII Survey: 17.4 Percent Of People In The 3T Region Have Not Connected The Internet
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) together with the BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology launched the "Internet User Determination Report in Disadvantaged Regions and the ISP market profile in Indonesia"
Reports made during the period July - September 2024, of 1,950 respondents from 64 districts in the 3T region showed that 82.6 percent of the people had been connected to the internet, while another 17.4 percent said they had not been connected.
This survey also found that 14.8 percent of the public said that the cost of internet quotas that were too expensive was the main reason why people in 3T had not been connected to the internet.
However, for those who have undergone the internet, 64.2 people in the 3T area prefer to subscribe to monthly internet packages, while 27.5 percent choose weekly subscriptions, and another 8.3 percent choose to subscribe to daily packages.
Seeing this situation, Fadhilah Mathar as the President Director of BAKTI Kominfo, who was present online, conveyed how important digital transformation is for the Indonesian economy.

"The contribution of the digital economy to GDP continues to increase, especially after the pandemic. However, we still see that this contribution is still below 10 percent, compared to other big countries such as the United States and China. Therefore, the digitalization relay needs serious attention," he said on Tuesday, September 17.
On the other hand, 49.23 percent of the ISP involved in this survey hopes that there will be tax incentives for those who are committed to building services in 3T rural areas.
