Winning First Trial, Kang Daniel Plans To Sue Civil To Sojang
JAKARTA - Kang Daniel won the first trial related to a criminal lawsuit against YouTuber Sojang. Kang Daniel's agency explained that they would proceed to a different civil lawsuit from a criminal lawsuit.
In July 2022, Kang Daniel and law firm Ryu reported Sojang for spreading false information that defames our artist. Today (11 September), we won the first trial," said ARA as Kang Daniel's agency.
"Although the results have been expected, two years towards a decision is something the artist and his fans have been waiting for," he said.
The agency explained that initially they reported to the Seocho Police, but the investigation was stopped because the identity of the perpetrator was unknown. They asked for a proposal to continue the examination in July 2023 until it was received by the Seoul prosecutor.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office then filed a summary indictment with a fine of 3 million won. However, we strongly requested a formal trial, brought "Sojang" to court and finally revealed his identity, "said the agency.

"The court takes this matter very seriously, imposing a fine of 10 million won, which is more than three times the prosecutor's recommendation," they said.
They believe that perpetrators of defamation must receive commensurate rewards with legal force so that they do not do things like that.
"We believe that malicious defamation and profit seeking through such actions must be addressed with strong civil and criminal liability because it leaves lasting wounds that are not easily cured even after all judicial procedures are completed," the agency said.
"We will do our best to protect our artists and not give forgiveness related to legal cases," concluded ARA.
Sojang is a YouTube account that makes videos containing fake news about Korean artists. Apart from Kang Daniel, several artists who reported Sojang to the authorities were Jang Wonyoung IVE, Suho EXO, and aespa.
