Discourse On NIK-Based KRL Subsidy, KAI Commuter Ready To Follow Government Policies
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter has opened its voice regarding the polemic of the plan to implement the Jabodetabek KRL subsidy based on the population identification number (NIK) which will start next year.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Joni Martinus said that as a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, of course KAI Commuter will comply with all types of decisions taken by the government through the Ministry of Transportation.
Including, continued Joni, one of them is the plan to implement the Jabodetabek KRL subsidy based on NIK.
"Our principle will follow directions and of course will support and follow government policies regarding the mechanism, we will use this (NIK)," he told reporters when met at BNI City Station, Jakarta, Sunday, September 8.
Even so, Joni was reluctant to explain further about the mechanism for implementing the NIK-based KRL subsidy policy. Joni admitted that he was ready to implement the policy if it had been decided by the government.
KAI Commuter, continued Joni, fully handed over the implementation of the NIK-based KRL subsidy policy to the government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation.
"The point is we are ready to implement it if it is a policy. We will be ready to implement it, and ready to adapt to existing policies," he explained.

For your information, the discourse on the KRL barisis NIK subsidy itself is contained in the Financial Note Book of the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for Fiscal Year 2025 which has been handed over by the government to the DPR.
The book of the Financial Note has been agreed upon by the government and has been submitted to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives on August 16, 2024.
Previously, it was reported that the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) ensured that there would be no adjustment to the Jabodetabek electric train tariff (KRL) in the near future.
This was conveyed by the Director General of Railways Risal Wasal in a statement from Resmu, Thursday, August 29.
"In this case, the scheme for determining the Jabodetabek KRL tariff based on the NIK (Population Identification Number) will not be implemented immediately," said Risal.
