Valley Presents Third Album With Titled Water The Flowers, Pray For A Garden
JAKARTA - Canadian indie-pop band Valley has just introduced their third studio album with the title 'Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden'. This album is a reminder of their ten years of travel in the music industry.
The title of this album was taken from a song of the same name released by Rob Laska (voka), Alex Dimauro (bass), and Karah James (drums) last June.
The demo for the song 'Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden' itself is a work that was forgotten, written in 2021 when Valley personnel were self-isolating to write new music.
At that time, Valley chose to choose the song 'Like 1999' which proved to be their most successful song to date. Meanwhile, 'Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden' is stored in a Dropbox full of song demonstrations.
"We really have two paths that we didn't know before," said Karah James, reflecting on how the song 'Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden' could be stored for so long that it was finally recovered and released.
Meanwhile, 'Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden' is a song about love, loss, and finds the good side.
The song is felt to have brought Valley back to their true identity, somewhere more cheerful between indie, folk, and pop.
It feels like us. It feels like a road that ends up feeling like Valley," said Karah.
Moving into a cabin in the Smoky Mountains in February, Valley under Chase Lawrence's guidance from COIN also spent an entire month with very limited access to the outside world. They began collecting material for the third album.

"The songs just flowed from us," Rob said.
I think it's a real sign when you make something special. We're not looking for things to write down. We know exactly what we need to write. In my opinion, this is the first time we've seen it as a band where everything was there, we just need to grab it and achieve it," he continued.
'Bop Ba' is the main track for the third album, which is a folk nuanced song that explores several other changes in life.
The song means differently to each personnel, Rob attributes it to his mother's struggle against bipolar disorder, while Karah takes inspiration from feelings of unhealthy dependence and entanglement in romantic relationships.
