The Late Faisal Basri In The Eyes Of Chatib Basri: He Is A Teacher And My Senior

JAKARTA - Former Finance Minister Chatib Basri expressed his condolences for the death of Faisal Basri.

Personally, he remembers the figure of Faisal Basri when he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia.

"Bang Faisal is actually my senior, friend, and teacher. I took a course from Bang Faisal. He is a real role model, not only in economic matters, but also about integrity, simple attitude, then critical attitude," said Chatib at the funeral home, Thursday, September 5.

According to Chatib, the figure of Faisal Basri is one of the economists who speak critically and sharply, where criticism from Faisal provides the best for Indonesia.

"So for me, in addition to personal matters because these are my friends and seniors, my teachers, but I think there is a huge loss for Indonesia, we need people like Faisal because I still believe in whatever form, criticism or feedback will save development," he said.

Chatib Basri assessed that Faisal Basri is an economist who has a big role in Indonesia, by overseeing economic development so that he can always prosper the community.

"So Bang Faisal has played the role there which is extraordinary and is an example for integrity," said Chatib Basri.
