Jokowi rides Innova, Palace: Changing Vehicles is a Normal Thing

JAKARTA - Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was facilitated with various work operational vehicles that were tailored to needs.

This was conveyed by Yusuf Permana in response to the Toyota Innova Zenix vehicle with the number plate RI 1 which President Jokowi was traveling in during the agenda of Pope Francis' visit in Jakarta.

"Fortuners are also often used during work visits when the terrain is heavy. This means changing vehicles is something we usually do," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 4.

Yusuf said President Jokowi would use the Zenix Innova car again the next day.

He explained that the use of vehicles such as Innova is often carried out for certain activities that are incognito or disguised.

Regarding security, Yusuf Permana emphasized that the Presidential Security Team always coordinates with the regional security team to ensure the President's safety during the trip.

As is known, similar vehicles were also used by the supreme leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, during his visit to Indonesia.

The difference between the two vehicles is in the color pattern and vehicle number plate. President Jokowi uses black with the RI 1 plate, while Pope Francis uses white with SCV 1 plate.
