DPD RI Officially Approves Package System For Leader Election In Plenary Session
JAKARTA - After going through various dynamics, finally the 5th Extraordinary Plenary Session of the DPD RI During Session V for Session Year 2023-2024 ratified the Regulation on the Order of the DPD RI as a result of harmonization and finalization by the Drafting Committee of Laws (PPUU) DPD RI.
"The conclusion is that the results of PPUU's harmonization are ratified but with several notes. What is meant is that there will be more discussions about articles that are still under debate," said Nono Sampono, Deputy Chair of the DPD RI, who chaired the trial with the Chairman of the DPD RI AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti and Deputy Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Wednesday, September 4 at the Nusantara V Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta.
The members of the DPD RI in the Plenary Session wanted the discussion of articles that became a note of the results of the Tatib harmonization carried out by the four DPD RI leaders and PPUUU leaders. "The proposal is accepted, later a leadership meeting will be scheduled between the DPD RI leadership and the PPUU leadership to discuss it," added Nono again.
Regarding the main issue of the election for the DPD RI leadership, there was an attractive and argumentuous attraction. However, in the end, the members of the DPD RI agreed that the election for the leadership of the DPD RI for the 2024-2029 period was carried out in a package system.
The chairman of the DPD RI said that the approval of the DPD RI leadership election with a package system was the result of negotiations and agreements between the two parties who would run in the selection of the DPD RI leadership.
"Kubu Pak Nono and I want elections with a package system, while Pak Najamudin's camp does not want an article that requires candidates for the leadership of the DPD RI to be free from sanctions for violations of the Order and the DPD RI Code of Ethics," he said.

In order to achieve a win-win solution, continued LaNyalla, Nono Sampono's camp agreed to eliminate articles about being free from ethical sanctions, while Sultan Baktiar Najamudin's camp agreed to the election with the package system.
In accordance with Article 91 of the DPD RI, it is stated that the DPD Leadership Election is carried out through a package system. Each DPD Leadership package as referred to in paragraph (1), reflects the representation of the sub-regional as referred to in Article 34 paragraph (2). Where the DPD leadership candidacy requirement consists of: the DPD leadership package must get 25% of the sub-regional support and include women's representation. Namely 10 members of the western sub-region I; 9 members of the western sub-region II; 9 members of the eastern sub-region I; and 10 members of the eastern sub-region II.
