Kominfo Doesn't Require Broadcasting Institutions To Replace Azan Broadcast On TV With Running Text

JAKARTA - Director General of Post and Information Administration Wayan Toni Supriyanto said that Kominfo would not require all television broadcasters to change the Maghrib call to rung text broadcast.

Wayan emphasized that in accordance with what was written in the application letter from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), there is no obligation for broadcasting institutions to replace the azan Maghrib broadcast with running text.

"There is nothing to do, the word can be used (according to the Ministry of Religion's letter) meaning it is submitted to a broadcasting institution," Wayan confirmed to VOI on Wednesday, September 4.

The contents of the application letter submitted by the Ministry of Religion to the Ministry of Communication and Information contain at least three important points, including:

The Ministry of Religion suggested that the Mass led by Pope Francis on September 5, 2024 at 17.00 to 19.00 WIB be broadcast live and unbroken on all national television.

Meanwhile, between 17.00 to 19.00 WIB Azan Maghrib was also broadcast. In connection with this, please do it with running text, "wrote the letter.

The Ministry of Religion also provides a complete policy to the Director General of Post and Information Implementation regarding the technical broadcast of the two moments.
