Israeli Troops Continue To Attack Gaza, 33 People Died

JAKARTA - Israeli forces killed 33 Palestinians in Gaza in the past 24 hours as they fought against militants led by Hamas.

But the short pause in combat allowed medics to vaccinate polio the third day for children.

Among those killed were four women in the southern city of Rafah and eight people near a hospital in the northern Gaza City, the Palestinian Civil Emergency Service said. Others were killed in separate airstrikes across the region.

Reported by Reuters on Tuesday, September 3, the Israeli military said its troops killed eight Palestinian gunmen, including a senior Hamas commander who took part in the October 7 attack on Israel, at a command center near the Al-Ahli Arabian Hospital in Gaza City.

Israel said Ahmed Fozi Nazer Muhammad Wadia had taken over the command of "the killing of civilians carried out by Hamas" in Israel's HaAsara Netiv community near the Gaza border.

There was no response from Hamas. The armed wing of Hamas and Islamic Jihad said they were fighting Israeli troops on the outskirts of Gaza City's Zeitoun, as well as in Rafah and Khan Younis in the south.
