KPK Affirms No Authority To Search For Kaesang: No Investigation Or Investigation
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it was not authorized to seek the position of Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep. This search process is usually only carried out when prosecution is carried out.
This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to the unknown whereabouts of the youngest child of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Kaesang and his wife, Erina Gudono, are known to have just flown to the United States on a private jet which then caused a polemic.
"To find out someone's whereabouts, of course legally if we want to know the position of all kinds of things, there must be a basis. Using these technological tools there must be a basis," Tessa told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 3.
"In this case, it may be an investigation or investigation warrant. And until now there has not been any," he continued.
Meanwhile, PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni said Kaesang Pangarep had actually been in Jakarta since August 28. He even chaired the finalization meeting for the 2024 Pilkada and signed the recommendation file.
"Almost every haei Mas Kaesang is in office at the PSI DPP. If I don't leave the city, evening or night after office hours, I personally always meet with Mas Kaesang to discuss preparations for the 2024 Pilkada," he said.

As previously reported, Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his wife, Erina Gudono, is in the spotlight because she boarded a private jet to the United States. In addition, Jokowi's son-in-law also uploaded a luxurious lifestyle such as eating Rp400 thousand bread to buying a baby streller for tens of millions while in the US.
Regarding this finding, the KPK admitted that it would ask for Kaesang's clarification. Moreover, there are allegations that this private jet is facilitated by other parties.
"The letter is being drafted, an invitation letter," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 30.
Alexander said that this summons was actually an ordinary mechanism and was not related to enforcement efforts. They just want to know the origin of the money used to rent a private jet used by Kaesang and his wife.
