Chronology of how a father in South Bangka tortured his step-wife and biological son to death

PANGKAL PINANG - A father in South Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province, has the heart to persecute his own biological child to death. Not only that, the man who also abused his wife because his money was often lost at home.

The perpetrator with the initials OI alias Kiki (37) was arrested by the South Bangka Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) on Saturday while at his home, Teladan Village, Toboalai Bangka Selatan.

"The perpetrator has been detained at the South Bangka Police Headquarters. The detention is based on two reports of alleged abuse," said Head of Public Relations of the Bangka Belitung Police, Kombes Pol Jojo Sutarjo, Monday, September 2.

The first report was reported by the wife of the perpetrator on August 26 and the second report was reported by the victim's biological mother on August 31 which resulted in her biological child's death.

Regarding the chronology of the incident, Jojo explained that the abuse of the perpetrator against his biological child and wife occurred on Monday last week at around 6 am at his residence. The motive for the abuse was because his money was often lost at home.

The perpetrator kicked and hit the two victims, causing his biological child to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Furthermore, said Jojo, on Thursday, August 29, the victim's biological mother visited the victim at the hospital and asked about what happened to the victim. However, the victim admitted that his leg was bruised due to falling.

"Uncertain about his son's confession, the victim's mother returned to her child the next day to inquire about the incident, until the child claimed to have been abused by his biological father," Jojo explained.

Knowing this information, the victim's biological mother came to the South Bangka Police Headquarters to report that her biological child had died due to being abused by her biological father.

"On August 31, 2024 at 10 am, the perpetrator was arrested and detained," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with multiple articles on the basis of two reports from his wife and biological mother of the victim. The perpetrator was charged with Article 44 paragraph (3) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence with a threat of 15 years in prison and Article 80 paragraph (3) of Law 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a threat of 15 years in prison.

"Meanwhile, the persecution of his wife was charged with Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code," he explained.

Currently, the perpetrator has been detained and further investigation is being carried out at the South Bangka Police Headquarters.
