RI Will Have 500 Km Of New Toll Road Until The End Of 2024, This Is The Leak

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that Indonesia will have 500 kilometers (km) of new toll roads by the end of 2024.

This was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of PUPR Endra S. Atmawidjaja.

As for the end of this year, the total new toll roads initiated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) are targeted to penetrate 2,700 km.

"Later, if we count until the end of 2024, the total additional new toll roads will be 2,700 km," said Endra in an online Webinar Guarding 10 Years of Infrastructure Development, Monday, September 2.

Endra revealed, there are 500 km of new toll roads that will be inaugurated in the near future, including those in Aceh, North Sumatra, Solo, Yogyakarta to the State Capital (IKN) Nusantara.

He explained, in the last 10 years Indonesia's connectivity has grown rapidly, where the length of toll roads has increased by 3 times.

The reason is, in 2014 when President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) first served as President of the Republic of Indonesia, the total length of the RI toll road was only about 780 km, while currently the length of the RI toll road is recorded at 2,839 km.

"I think this is 3 times the existence of existing operational toll roads until 2014," he said.

For your information, ahead of the 10 years of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s leadership, the total length of the freeways or toll roads owned by Indonesia has increased to 2,113 kilometers (km).

The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR noted that from 1978 to mid-2024 or to be precise 4 months before Jokowi stepped down, 73 toll roads had been operating for a total length of 2,893 km.

This means that during almost 10 years of his leadership, President Jokowi's government built around 72.6 percent of the total length of the toll roads currently owned by Indonesia.
