Troubled Spotify Connect Volume Control, Spotify Blames Apple
JAKARTA Spotify Connect is a feature specifically designed to control music playback on other devices remotely. This feature should make it easier for users, not make it difficult for them.
However, recently Spotify Connect on iOS devices lost volume control and Apple was considered the cause. Spotify, citing from TechCrunch, said it had submitted a request for the same volume control as Apple's built-in app.
This request is not accepted by Apple. The iOS developer ordered Spotify to develop a special feature that can integrate their app into HomePod. With this integration, Spotify Connect can control volume directly on the iPhone.
Simply put, Spotify cannot use the same technology as Apple Music on iOS. Apple's decision is considered to be difficult for Spotify because other big companies, such as Google and Samsung, don't take similar actions despite having the same technology.

Apple is deemed to have violated the European Union Digital Markets Act (DMA) article 6(7) which states that GTeekeepers must allow effective interoperability into the same features or software without any fees.
With the emergence of problems in this volume control, users can no longer use the physical button for the volume on the iPhone side. Spotify users on iOS will be directed to shift the volume in the Spotify Connect menu in the app.
Users can also press the volume button on the iPhone side, but the Spotify app should be open. This method becomes much more complicated than before and is a major setback for Spotify Connect. Keep in mind that this problem only happens on iOS.
