Moeldoko Does Not Ask Permission To Jokowi And His Wife When Becoming A Democrat's Chairman: Don't Disturb President!
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Democratic Party of Sibolangit Extraordinary Congress (KLB), North Sumatra (Sumut), Moeldoko, said he did not want to involve President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for his decision to go directly into the practical political arena.
According to him, this strategic step was purely a personal consideration and was not an initiation from another party.
"Regarding issues that I believe are true and that is due to my personal authority, I do not want to burden the President," he said via the official Instagram page @dr_moeldoko on Sunday, March 28.
In fact, he also took this political step without communicating in advance with the closest people in the family circle.
"I also made a mistake as an ordinary human being in not telling my wife and family about the decision I made," he said.
Even so, the former National Army Commander believes that important decisions must be taken immediately, especially regarding strategic matters and having a big impact.
"However, I am also used to taking risks myself, especially for the sake of the nation and state," he said.
For this reason, he hopes that the public in the country can see that the desire to contribute more to Mother Earth through political parties is purely a personal initiation without bringing other parties, especially the President.
"For that, do not bring up the president in this matter," he said.
On this occasion, Moeldoko also provided information regarding his reasons for accepting the Democrat Party's proposal as General Chair.
He considered that the political party bearing the Mercy logo was being plagued by internal chaos which had the potential to create its own excesses in the democratic climate in Indonesia.
"Chaos has occurred, democracy has shifted within the body of the Democrats. There is a special situation in national politics, namely that there has been a strong ideological battle ahead of 2024," he explained.
"So this is not only saving the Democrats but also saving the nation and state. For that all culminate in my decision to accept a request to lead the Democrats," he continued.

Moeldoko openly agreed with the request of the Democrat Party's Extraordinary Congress (KLB) which was held in North Sumatra some time ago to become Chairman based on three important things.
First, it is about the suitability of the statutes (Article of Association/By-laws) of the party. Second, the seriousness of cadres who asked him to lead the party. And the third is related to the invitation to Democratic cadres to work hard for the nation and state above personal and group interests.
Feeling that he received a satisfactory answer, Moeldoko finally accepted the mandate of the Extraordinary Congress (KLB), which wanted him to become Chairman of the Democratic Party.
"And all the questions were answered by the KLB participants with a roar. So, then I made a decision (to accept the proposal as General Chair of the Democratic Party)," he said.
