These Three Things Ensure Moeldoko To Accept Democrat's Proposal To Become General Chair
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Democrat Party of Sibolangit Extraordinary Congress (KLB) North Sumatra (Sumut), Moeldoko, finally opened his vote regarding his decision to accept the party's proposal with the mercy logo as General Chair.
In an upload on the official Instagram page @dr_moeldoko on Sunday, March 28, the former National Army commander said that this political step was the result of thinking based on three important things.
He then confirmed these three views to the participants of the Extraordinary Democratic Party Congress (KLB) which was held in North Sumatra some time ago.
"The first question is whether this Extraordinary Congress (KLB) is in accordance with the Article of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART)?" he said.
"The second question, how serious is the Democrat cadre in asking me to lead this party?"
"And the third is that the Democratic cadres will work hard with integrity for the sake of Red and White above personal and group interests?" he said.
According to him, after the three questions were raised, the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) participants who were present welcomed them with convincing loud answers.
"And all the questions were answered by the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) participants with a roar. So, then I made a decision (to accept the proposal as General Chair of the Democratic Party)," he said.
On that occasion, Moeldoko also implied that the chaos that occurred within the party that carried SBY in the 2004 and 2009 presidential elections was not caused by his presence. On the contrary, he views that the ongoing political polemic arises as a result of other, more complex problems.
"Chaos has occurred, democracy has shifted within the body of the Democrats. There is a special situation in national politics, namely that there has been a strong ideological battle ahead of 2024," he said.

Therefore, his strategic move in choosing to join the Democrats is claimed to be an important effort to bring this political party out of the existing problems.
"So this is not only saving the Democrats but also saving the nation and state. For that all culminate in my decision to accept the request to lead the Democrats,” he explained.
Moeldoko also responded to the lopsided accusations addressed to President Joko Widodo for his decision to go directly into practical politics, considering that he is one of the country's top officials who now serves as the Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).
"Don't bring up the president in this matter," he concluded.
