Preventing The Spread Of The Mpox Virus, Angkasa Pura Installs Temperature Measuring At The Airport

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports has increased vigilance amid increasing the status of Mpox disease or monkeypox. One of them is by installing a thermal scanner or body temperature measuring device at each airport.

The move came after the Mpox disease experienced an increase in its status as a World-Relaxing Public Health Emergency (KKM-MD) or Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization (WHO).

InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi said InJourney Airports through managed airports have established intensive coordination with the Health Quarantine Center (BBKK) to prevent the spread of Mpox.

Faik said the coordination carried out was to occupy a thermal scanner to measure the temperature of the airport service user body at the international arrival terminal as an early detection step.

"In the midst of an increase in the status of the Mpox virus globally, 16 international airports inJourney Airports continue to increase their vigilance to anticipate the potential spread of the Mpox virus. We ensure that airport operations and services to all airport service users are maintained optimally," he said.

Faik said this early detection step needs to be taken considering that in September Indonesia will host several major international events, namely the Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) from September 1 to 3 and Bali International Airshow on September 18 to 21.

Then, continued Faik, the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) on September 5 to 6 in Jakarta, as well as the MotoGP world championship in Lombok from September 27 to 29.

"We take this preventive step as an effort to increase awareness of the prevention and spread of the Mpox virus in particular, and to support the smooth implementation of these various international events," concluded Faik.
