Opposing Khofifah, PKB Nominates Luluk-Lukman in East Java Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) is nominating the Luluk Nur Hamidah-Lukmanul Khakim pair as gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates in the East Java Regional Head Election (Pilkada) from PDIP Party.

This was confirmed by PKB Deputy Chair Jazilul Fawaid regarding the 2024 East Java Pilkada.

"That's right, PKB is unanimous in nominating Ms. Luluk Hamidah as a pair with Lukman Khakim," said Jazilul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 28.

Jazilul said that PKB wants to present a fresh leader in East Java. A leader who is free from corruption and has experience in politics

"God willing, the Luluk-Lukman pair is more energetic and younger than the other existing pairs," said the East Java Electoral District Legislator.

Jazilul revealed that PKB wanted to make a surprise at the end because his party had the ticket to nominate itself without a coalition with other political parties.

He also assessed that Luluk, who is also a PKB cadre, was able to fight Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Tri Rismaharini.

"Why did we choose Luluk first because we saw that all the figures who appeared in East Java were women. Ms. Luluk is a younger woman, more beautiful I think," he said.

"(So) There is no problem (against Khofifah and Risma), because indeed Ms. Khofifah's achievements in East Java are not clear. Ms. Luluk, in my opinion, was successful in parliament in raising issues and aspirations that were expected by the community. Including fighting hard to fight for the current draft law for the hajj special committee," he concluded.
