Russian Missile Attack Kills 5 People In Ukraine
JAKARTA - Russia launched missile and drone attacks targeting a number of Ukrainian territories and killing five people.
Two people died when the hotel was destroyed by a missile in downtown Kryvyi Rih, local officials said.
Three people were killed in a drone strike in the southeastern city of Zaporizhia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv would retaliate against Russian attacks. He called on his allies to consider joint air defense operations and provide long-range capabilities after Russia attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure with more than 200 missiles and drones on Monday.
During the attack on Tuesday, August 27, Ukraine dropped five of the 10 incoming missiles and 60 of the 81 drones, the air force said.
The Ukrainian air force lost track of 10 other drones that likely crashed somewhere in its territory, he said. Another crossed into Belarus; 10 other aircraft were still flying in Ukrainian airspace on Tuesday morning.
