Korea Open 2024: Indonesia Only Sends 6 Representatives
JAKARTA Indonesia only sent six representatives to the Korea Open 2024 which was held this week. The only sector that missed the event was the women's doubles.
The BWF Super 500 level tournament is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, until Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Mokpo Indoor Stadium, Mokpo, South Korea.
The Korea Open 2024 total provides a prize of 420,000 United States dollars or equivalent to Rp. 6.49 billion rupiah. Ten of the six Indonesian representatives are ready to come down to be able to win the podium.
All members of the Indonesian team have undergone training in two sessions on Monday, August 26, 2024. They train for two hours during the afternoon session and only an hour in the afternoon session.
The six representatives are Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emenuelle Widjaja.
All the names above previously participated in the Japan Open 2024 last week. However, at the event, only Leo/Bagas and Fikri/Daniel could travel the farthest.

The two pairs compactly reached the semifinals. Unfortunately, Leo/Bagas fell against Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin (Malaysia) and Fikri/Daniel were beaten by Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae (South Korea).
The absence of women's doubles at the Korea Open 2024 extends the record that the sector does not participate in the BWF World Tour. Previously, at the 2024 Japan Open, the number also did not have a representative.
For the first day on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, only two men's doubles will play. The two met with Chinese representatives Taipei.
Leo/Bagas will play against Ming Che Lu/Tang Kai Wei in Field 3 and Fikri/Daniel meet Chen Cheng Kuan/Chen Seng Fa in Field 2.
