Nigerian Armed Criminal Group Attacks Village, 10 Farmers Killed
JAKARTA - An armed criminal group in Nigeria killed 10 farmers in an attack on a village in the northern Niger state.
Armed groups often attack communities in northwestern Nigeria, kidnapping residents, farmers, students, and car drivers for ransom.
Residents told Reuters on Thursday, August 22, gunmen had attacked several farmers in the Allawa community in the Shiroro local government area in Niger the previous day.
The farmers were trapped and 10 people died last night on their respective agricultural land, said Hassan Abubakar.
Another resident, Indamishe Auwal, who helped issue the body, regretted the incident and the general insecurity in the area.
