KPK Calculates Needs Before Asking New Prosecutors To The AGO

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not officially submitted a request for a new prosecutor. They are still calculating the exact number of personnel needed for the process of prosecuting corruption cases.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika when asked about the withdrawal of 10 senior prosecutors. These ten people were asked to return to the Adhyaksa Corps because they had served for more than 10 years.

"It is being calculated how much the prosecutor needs to be asked to the AGO," Tessa told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, August 21.

He also mentioned that the 10 prosecutors who were asked to return home were still working in the anti-corruption commission. They will be effective.

"The prosecutor who was withdrawn is still working until September 1," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK confirmed that the Attorney General's Office asked 10 senior prosecutors to return home. This step is confirmed not related to the handling of corruption cases but to refreshment.

One of the senior prosecutors who was asked to go home was the former KPK spokesman for the field of prosecution and the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri.

"It is true that there were 10 prosecutors who were asked to return to the Prosecutor's Office but did not suddenly. Indeed, it has entered the refresher program because they have served an average of 10 to 12 years on duty," said Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, when confirmed by reporters, Monday, August 5.

The AGO will then send other prosecutors to the KPK to carry out the prosecution process. However, they are waiting for the request to be submitted first.
