Bamsoet Makes Sure Not To Candidate Himself To Be The Chairman Of Golkar
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Bambang Soesatyo alias Bamsoet, confirmed that he would not run as a candidate for chairman so that party solidity would be maintained in order to avoid dynamics that could crack the Golkar Party after the resignation of Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto.
He said the integrity and solidity of the Golkar Party was the main thing. According to him, the dynamics that occurred in the Golkar Party with the resignation of Airlangga Hartarto should be addressed wisely.
"It is necessary to have collective awareness that must be built by all Golkar Party cadres to jointly save the Golkar Party," said Bamsoet as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 19.
Before Airlangga Hartarto resigned as chairman of the Golkar Party DPP, Bamsoet explained that he had agreed with Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Bahlil Lahadalia to run as candidates for the chairman of the Golkar Party.
However, according to him, Agus Gumiwang, after being appointed as Acting Chairman of the Golkar Party, stated that he would not run as a candidate for the chairman of the Golkar Party.
Seeing the completely changing political situation, he and Agus Gumiwang and Bahlil Lahadalia have discussed and agreed to support one of them to become a candidate for the chairman of the Golkar Party.
As a result, he and Agus Gumiwang agreed to support Bahlil Lahadalia as chairman of the Golkar Party for the period 2024-2029.
"In the Golkar Party's XI National Conference later, it will most likely elect Bahlil Lahadalia by acclamation," said the chairman of the MPR.

In addition, according to Bamsoet, the dynamics that occur within the Golkar Party will not interfere with the nomination of regional heads from the Golkar Party in the 2024 regional elections, including the process of inaugurating the elected president/vice president Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"The Golkar Party is one of the big parties with very high flight hours. There is no need to doubt the solidarity between cadres. Various tests have been experienced by the Golkar Party, but the 'Beringin tree' continues to stand tall," he said.
