Sri Sultan Ensures Budget Readiness To Overcome Drought In DIY

YOGYAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X ensures the readiness of budget posts to help overcome the impact of drought during the dry season in a number of districts in this province.The budget post was prepared to help district governments (Pemkab) whose budget was running low."That's just in case the regencies/cities break their budget for it (drain handling), almost run out or a little, we can help," he said.At the Kepatihan Ward, Yogyakarta, Antara, Monday, August 19.However, the Sultan hopes that the district/city government can utilize the budget that is owned optimally first. He believes that the district/city governments in DIY already have a budget that is ready to be used to deal with the impact of drought in their respective regions."That includes (for disasters) such as drought and so on, there are all of them," said Sultan.The DIY local government, said Sultan, can only disburse aid funds for handling drought when a request has emerged from the district/city government.The procedure, according to him, is in accordance with the administrative flow which will be accounted for by the DIY Regional Government, including when an examination appears from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK)."The governor's decision was issued based on a request from which area, for what purpose, that is an administrative aspect which will be examined by the BPK," said Sultan.Previously, the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, established a Drought Disaster Emergency Alert Status which was in effect from August 1 to August 31, 2024.This status can be extended if the drought in this area continues.
The governor of DIY has set a drought emergency alert status considering that the three districts in this area, namely Kulon Progo, Gunungkidul, and Sleman regencies, have had a hydrometeorological emergency alert status.
