Coordinating Minister Airlangga Projects Global Economy In 2025 To Improve

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto projects that the global economy in 2025 will improve.

This was conveyed by Airlangga in a press conference on the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget and the 2025 TA Financial Note at the office of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, Friday, August 16.

"We see that the projected global economic growth in 2025 is expected to improve slightly compared to 2024. We see inflation as also relatively declining, where emerging markets are still 6 percent but developed countries are estimated to be around 2 percent. The world is around 4.4 percent," said Airlangga.

Airlangga added, Indonesia is also still able to maintain economic growth in the range of 5 percent. Then, low inflation is in the range of 2 percent, although it is still relatively below other countries.

"Some achievements have been conveyed by the President (Jokow). The extreme poverty rate is 0.83 percent as of March, the unemployment rate is 4.82 percent as of February 2024 and the working person has increased by 3.55 million from February 2023 to February 2024. The consumer confidence index is still above 100, the real sales index is growing positively, the trade surplus continues and foreign exchange reserves are high at 145.45 billion US dollars," he explained.

According to Airlangga, there are several future strategies that the government will implement. These include revitalizing economic machinery and continuing to provide social protection and community empowerment programs.

"We need to maintain four large capitals. Connectivity, improve human resource management (HR), incentives for energy transition and social protection and community empowerment," he concluded.
