PPSU Kelurahan Duren Sawit Creates Cannon Crafts Using Used Galon Ahead Of RI's 79th Anniversary

JAKARTA - A number of officers handling public infrastructure and facilities (PPSU) in Duren Sawit Village made decoration crafts to celebrate the 79th Indonesian Independence Day made of various plastic waste in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta, Friday, August 16.

The handicraft works were made into various forms of cannons, tanks, planes and Garuda birds. All raw materials come from plastic waste from sorting household waste.

"And I have reminded them (PPSU) from the start, this competition must use used goods. One of them comes from the waste bank collected. Like collecting plastic bottles. I will compete with this," said Duren Sawit Village Head, Santi Nur Rifiandini to VOI, Friday, August 16.

The participants in making decoration crafts with the theme of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day were followed by PPSU Kelurahan Duren Sawit and RPTRA manager Duren Sawit.

"Decode crafts with the theme of the Indonesian Independence Day 2024 use materials from used materials. Such as used bottles, cardboard, plastic packs of coffee and so on are assembled into one. It becomes a decoration that can be served for residents when visiting the duren sawit sub-district," he said.

The decorations for these crafts were made by each team totaling 8-10 people.

"There are 14 teams combined from PPSU 109 people and Rptra 12 people so there are 14 teams and produce 14 works," he said.

The village head said that the making of decoration crafts for the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day was intended so that people could sort waste and collect it because it could make an interesting work of art.

"That used goods can be reused, there is even a selling value. In order to become enthusiastic again to collect, sort waste, and set an example for residents. The goal is to invite residents to process waste for the better," he said.

Meanwhile, Nur Fadilah, head of the team for making gallon cannon decoration crafts, said that the process of making cannons in less than 1 month, only took about 3 weeks.

"We make it almost every day when we are free, especially during rest time and when we go home from work we do this. The Lurah Minister has also warned that he doesn't have to rush too much. Thank God we and our friends have the idea of making a cannon, less than 1 month we have finished," he said.
