It's Not Only Hendri Who Is Trapped, There Are 44 Other Indonesian Citizens Trapped In Myanmar

Head of Sub-Directorate for Southeast Asia Region, Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) Rina Komaria revealed that 44 Indonesian citizens (WNI) were trapped in Myanmar.

Moreover, recently, there was an Indonesian citizen from Petukangan, South Jakarta, Suhendri alias Hendri who was also a victim of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO). The victim was trapped in the lure of a large wage in Thailand.

"Because from the complaint data there are 44 cases that we handle and not only Suhendri but for Indonesian citizens who are there, that's it. They are in the Myawaddi conflict area, the location is suspected to be an Indonesian person," said Rina when confirmed, Friday, August 16.

Rina admits that the pattern of the perpetrators in Myanmar always asks for a ransom. Therefore, his party is looking for a solution to be able to free Indonesian citizens trapped in Myanmar.

The pattern asks for a ransom. Indeed, the pattern often used by this company is to be able to pay the ransom," he said.

He also mentioned that the people trapped were not only Indonesian citizens. However, there are foreign nationals (foreigners) in the conflict area.

"Including there are foreigners there, so we also communicate with foreign embassies to find the best way to find out if anyone has a network that can reach there," he concluded.
