Visit Ankara: President Abbas Meets President Erdogan, Speech In Turkish Parliament Today
JAKARTA - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Turkey's determination to support the Palestinian cause, when he held a meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas, who arrived in Turkey on Wednesday and will address the Turkish Parliament on Thursday.
The two leaders held a closed meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, where they discussed Israeli massacres in Palestine, ongoing developments and necessary steps to reach a permanent ceasefire and peace, the Presidential Communications Directorate said.
President Erdogan told Presdien Abbas that it would be unacceptable if Western countries remained silent and even supported Israel, which continues to slaughter civilians, including infants in Gaza.
He also said that all countries, especially the Muslim world, should step up their efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the much-needed supply of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaz
Earlier, Palestinian Ambassador to Turkey Faed Mustafa said President Abbas began an official two-day visit to the Republic of Turkey on Wednesday evening, reported by WAFA.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Turkish leaders, as part of routine political consultations between the two presidents.
In addition, President Abbas will deliver a historic political speech at the extraordinary meeting of the Great National Assembly of Turkey, at the invitation of the Head of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmu dam.

It said the extraordinary meeting was held to express the strong support of the Turkish Parliament for the Palestinian people. President Erdogan's speech will discuss efforts to stop ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
It is known that President Abbas had just completed a visit to Russia on August 12-14. During the visit, he briefly discussed the conflict in Gaza and bilateral relations between Russia-Palestinian and President Vladimir Putin.
Separately, Gaza's health authorities announced on Wednesday that the death toll of civilians in the Palestinian enclave had reached 39,965, while injuries reached 92,294 people, since the latest conflict broke out on October 7, 2023.
