The Story Of Residents Losing Gold And Other Assets In The Manggarai Fire

JAKARTA Dwi (43), one of the residents affected by the fire in Manggarai, South Jakarta, told of the moments when he and his family saved themselves when the fire had grown. Dwi said he realized there was a fire because his son, Riki (16) woke him from sleep.

"I was sleeping at that time, the child then woke up, Mak... there was a fire, a fire. I immediately took my mother out, right," said Dwi when met at the scene, Tuesday, August 13.

Dwi admitted that he did not have time to bring valuables at his house. Because for him, the ones who were echoed at the time of the incident were his mother and children.

"Everything is sold out. I put the ant (save) in the drawer, electric bicycle gold bracelet. The motorbike and the clothes of the child, mother and husband, were burned down," he said.

Dwi also hopes that the government can help and reduce his losses. Because, he admitted that there was no remaining property from the fire.

"Hopefully the government can help. At least it can relieve me," said Dwi with tears in his eyes.
