Minister Of Transportation: The Otomom Tram Will Be A Feeder For Transporting Participants Of The Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony At IKN

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the autonomous tram or Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) would be a feeder for participants of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

The autonomous trend, continued Budi, has a cruising speed of 40 km per hour. The routes that are also passed include Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan Barat and Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan Timur.

"ART will be in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), he is a feeder around West Sumbu and East Sumbu roads," he said in an official statement, Monday, August 12.

Budi admitted that he had conducted an autonomous tram test with a team from China's CRRC at IKN, on Sunday, August 11. The trial was carried out to prepare for the operation of autonomous trams so that they can be operated and can serve well on the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"There is already a dirty rehearsal. I see an ART, in my opinion, there are no special things to add, so we just have to try it out, make sure electricity, then operate it," he said.

Budi explained that the operation of autonomous trams uses batteries that are substituted with road and magnetic markings.

This is expected to be able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use, so that it is in line with the concepts and principles of IKN as a smart, green, and sustainable city area.

"In addition, together with various parties who work together, we also prepare electric public transportation. Gradually we will make sure all transportation operating in IKN is environmentally friendly," said Budi Karya.
