Polda Metro: Drug Trafficking Cases Increase Since 2022

Polda Metro Jaya said the circulation of various types of drugs had increased from 2022 to 2023. This was proven by the disclosure of 5,358 cases.

"The development of the syndicate of the network of dealers, dealers, sellers, distributors, and couriers as well as drug users in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya from 2022 to 2023 has increased," said Director of Drug Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Kombes Donald Parlaungan Simanjuntak, Thursday, August 8.

In the 2022 period, the Director of Drug Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya and the police of the ranks revealed 3,600 cases. With this figure, it means an increase of almost 50 percent.

"Of course this shows a 48 percent increase," he said.

In an effort to eradicate drug trafficking, Polda Metro and Polres ranks held Operation Nila Jaya 2024 which took place from July 3 to July 17, 2024.

As a result, hundreds of perpetrators of drug trafficking were arrested in various regions.

"Secondly, the number of suspects from Operation Nila Jaya, there are 480 suspects that we have processed. Which consists of 247 dealers, 213 users," he said.

Even in Operation Nila Jaya 2024, all operational targets in drug trafficking cases were arrested. The number reached 50 suspects.

In addition, Polda Metro Jaya also destroyed various types of drugs resulting from disclosure. The most mixed shabu weighing 183.25 kilograms.

"The total amount of evidence that the police managed to confiscate was narcotics of methamphetamine amounting to 183.25 kilograms; 129.26 kilograms of marijuana; 26,308 ecstasy pills; 31,378 dangerous drugs; 7.2 kilograms of synthetic tobacco," said Donald.
