Israel's Attack On Gaza Today Kills 25 People

JAKARTA - Israeli forces stepped up attacks on the Gaza Strip and killed 25 people today.

Israeli airstrikes hit a house in the Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza, killing 15 people. Meanwhile, in the Al-Nuseirat camp, an attack killed four people, medics said.

Reported by Reuters on Thursday, August 8, Nuseirat and Bureij were among eight historic camps in the densely populated area and Israel was seen as a stronghold of armed militants.

Israeli planes also bombed houses in the heart of Gaza in the north and killed five Palestinians.

Another air strike in the southern city of Khan Younis killed one person and injured another.

The armed wing of Hamas and Islamic Jihad said they fired anti-tank rockets and mortar bombs at Israeli forces operating in Gaza, causing the deaths and injuries among them.

The Israeli military said it had attacked dozens of military targets in Gaza over the past 24 hours, including rocket launch pads.
