Israel Promises To Eliminate New Leader Hamas Yahya Sinwar

JAKARTA - Israel has pledged to eliminate the new leader of the Palestinian independence group, Hamas, Yahya Sinwar.

Sinwar replaces Ismael Haniyeh who was killed in Israeli airstrikes at his residence in Tehran, Iran.

Israel claims Sinwar's appointment led Hamas evidence Iran is ready to retaliate for Haniyeh's murder.

"We are prepared defensively and offensively," he told new recruits, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at his military base on Wednesday, August 7, quoted by AFP.

Israel also claimed Sinwar was the mastermind behind Hamas' attack on its territory on October 7, 2023, which claimed 1,200 people, then revised Israel to 1,400 people on November 10, 2023.
