Microsoft Tests Copilot's New Look On Edge For Android

JAKARTA - Microsoft, after leaving the Internet Explorer in June 2022, is now focusing on developing Edge as a better successor. Edge, which is based on Chromium and has features that users can try, is now presenting interesting changes in its Android version.

One of Edge's main features is Copilot, Microsoft's AI tool, which is currently the center of attention in a new trial. On Edge for Android, the address bar and related tools are located at the bottom of the page, with the Copilot shortcut in the middle. Usually, tapping this tool will open a panel inside the browser, but Microsoft is now testing trying to open the Copilot in a separate tab, as shared by @Leopeva64 in X.

This change is only available on Edge Canary today. Users can try this feature by activating the Copilot update via edge://flags.

Although these changes are relatively small, the impact for 5.25 percent of Edge users, which is smaller in Android and even smaller in Canary, can provide more flexibility when exploring the web. In addition, these changes allow easier multitasking between the information tab and the Copilot tab.

Currently, this new Copilot interface isn't yet available on Edge's stable version for Android, and there's no certainty when this feature will roll out. iOS users haven't been able to try this new interface, as there's no Edge Canary on iOS that allows them to try out experimental features.
