Speaking With Macron, Iranian President Affirms Will Not Be Silent With Israel's Aggression

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed his country would not remain silent over Israeli aggression.

This was conveyed by Masoud to French President Emmanuel Macron according to state media.

"Iran will never remain silent in the face of aggression against its interests and security", Pezeshkian told Macron by phone, criticizing Israel for the 10-month Gaza war.

"If the United States and Western countries are really trying to prevent war in the region, they should force this regime (Israel) to stop genocide and attacks on Gaza and accept a ceasefire," he continued.

An emergency meeting of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation was held on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia at Iran's request to discuss the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, a former leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Tehran and groups allied with Iran such as Hamas and Hezbollah accused Israel of killing Haniyeh on July 31. His death was one of a series of killings of senior Hamas figures during the war.

Israeli officials have not yet claimed responsibility for Haniyeh's death.
