Previously, the incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris announced the Minnesota Governor Walz Tim Walz as his vice presidential candidate.
"Today our party has officially approved Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz as our candidates for the President and Vice President of the United States," said chair of the Moore Minyon Convention.
"Throughout this process, thousands of delegates have delivered their voices and the voices of their people are heard, and their perseverance and dedication have ensured that each voter has the opportunity to vote for our Democratic candidate this November. Now the world's eyes are on Chicago, where our delegates will celebrate this historic ticket with a summons ceremony and tell the story of Vice President Harris, Governor Walz, and the Democratic Party as we prepare to beat Donald Trump once again," he continued.
Prior to the announcement, Walz and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro were touted as strong candidates for Harris's preferred vice president candidate.
However, Harris ultimately chose Walz to be his partner against Republicans Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Walz, a 60-year-old US Army National Guard veteran and former teacher, was elected to the Republican US House of Representatives in 2006 and served for 12 years before being elected governor of Minnesota in 2018.

As governor, Walz has pushed for a progressive agenda that includes free school food, the goal of tackling climate change, cutting taxes for the middle class, and expanding paid leave for Minnesota workers.
She has long advocated for women's reproductive rights but has also shown a conservative trend when representing rural districts in the US House of Representatives, defending agricultural interests and supporting gun rights.
"The team is a proven leader in combat and has an extraordinary track record of completing various things for the Minnesota family. I know that it will bring the same principled leadership into our campaign, and to the vice president's office," Harris explained.
