Bangladeshi Parliament Disbanded Following PM Hasina's Resignation
JAKARTA - Bangladeshi parliament was dissolved a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country following strong protests demanding his dismissal.
The announcement comes hours after student leaders protesting set a deadline for disbanding parliament and warning hard action' would be made if their deadlines were not met.
Earlier, Army Commander General Waker-Us-Zaman said in his televised address, Hasina, 76, had left the country and the interim government would be formed.
Media reports said Hasina flew in a military helicopter with her sister and headed to the state of West Bengal in eastern India, just across the border.

Television footage showed thousands of people taking to the streets in the capital Dhaka with joy and chanting slogans.
Thousands of people also stormed Hasina's official 'Ganabhaban' residence, chanting slogans, brandishing her fist and showing signs of victory.
