Supreme Court Planning Division Head Says Gazalba's Salary is IDR 77 Million, Incentives Reach Hundreds of Millions

JAKARTA - Inactive Supreme Court Justice, Gazalba Saleh is said to receive a salary of around IDR 77 million every month. In fact, the value can increase to billions if he handles many cases.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Planning Division of the Supreme Court (MA) Citra Maulana when he was a witness in the trial of alleged acceptance of gratification and TPPU with defendant Gazalba Saleh.

It began when Chief Justice Fahzal Hendri asked about the examination material when Citra was undergoing examination at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Citra said one of the things questioned by investigators was the salary received by Gazalba Saleh as a Supreme Court Justice.

"How much is his salary?" asked Judge Fahzal during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, August 5.

"The monthly salary is IDR 77,128,000, Your Honor," answered Citra.

During the trial, Citra also said that the salary received by Gazalba Saleh could reach hundreds to billions of rupiah.

This refers to Government Regulation (PP) Number 82 of 2021 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities for Supreme Court Justices and Constitutional Justices.

"PP 82, in PP 82 the amount depends on the cases handled, the more cases handled, the more money you get, it can reach hundreds of millions, Your Honor," said Citra.

Although Gazalba Saleh is a non-career Supreme Court Justice, said Citra, the defendant still gets the rights as a Career Supreme Court Justice.

"So his salary is IDR 77 million?" asked Judge Fahzal.

"Plus PP 82 money," answered Citra.

"So the total?" asked Judge Fahzal.

"It's uncertain, Your Honor, PP 82 depends on the cases he handles. for example, a month...," answered Citra.

"It depends on the cases handled. if he handles a lot of cases?" asked Judge Fahzal again.

"Up to hundreds of millions, Your Honor, it can be up to IDR 300 million. A month can be up to 300 million PP 82," answered Citra.

"Can be IDR 300 million?" added Judge Fahzal.

"Yes, Your Honor, up to IDR 1 billion, depending on the case handled by Your Honor," answered Citra.

Citra also explained that based on the notes she submitted to investigators, the amount of honorarium received by Gazalba while serving as a Supreme Court Justice was recorded at IDR 6 billion.

"From the data you submitted to investigators, how much?" asked Judge Fahzal.

"As far as I remember, the total was IDR 6.7 billion, the total from him as a Supreme Court Justice until the last one was IDR 6.7 billion," said the witness.

In this case, Gazalba was charged with receiving gratuities and committing money laundering (TPPU) with a total value of IDR 62.89 billion related to the handling of cases at the Supreme Court.

The alleged receipts include gratuities worth IDR650 million and TPPU consisting of 18,000 Singapore dollars (IDR 216.98 million), IDR37 billion, 1.13 million Singapore dollars (IDR 13.59 billion), 181,100 US dollars (IDR 2 billion), and IDR9.43 billion during the period 2020-2022.

The gratification given to Gazalba was related to the handling of the cassation case of Jawahirul Fuad who experienced legal problems related to the management of B3 waste without a permit in 2017.

The gratification money was received by Gazalba together with Riyadh as the liaison between Jawahirul Fuad and Gazalba in 2022 after

Gazalba received IDR 200 million and Riyadh received IDR 450 million, so that the total gratification received by both of them was IDR 650 million.
