Sanctions For Drilling PT TCN Pipes Damaged Gili Trawangan Waters Still Waiting For KKP Directions
JAKARTA - The implementation of sanctions for the damage to marine ecosystems in Gili Trawangan waters is suspected to be the impact of pipe drilling activities belonging to PT Tiara Citra Nirwana (TCN) is still waiting for central direction.
Head of the Benoa Marine Maritime Resources and Fisheries Supervision Team (PSDKP), Meisal Rachdiana, emphasized that his party is waiting for the decision of the Director General (Dirjen) of Marine and Marine Space Management (PKRL) at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).
"So, for the implementation of the title of supervisory results, we are still waiting for directions from the central leadership (Director General of PKRL KKP)," Meisal said by telephone, Monday, August 5, confiscated by Antara.
Although he has not been able to confirm when the sanctions will be implemented, Meisal assured that the Directorate General of PKRL KKP has received the results of the re-data collection from the Kupang National Water Conservation Area Center (BKKPN) regarding the damage to marine ecosystems in Gili Trawangan waters allegedly due to pipeline drilling belonging to PT TCN.
"The results from the BKKPN are already in our directorate at the center. So, just wait for the position to us at the Benoa PSDKP base," he said.
His party is waiting for the results of the re-data collection to become the basis for the application of sanctions referring to the rules of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 27 of 2007 concerning the management of coastal areas and small islands, and the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 concerning job creation into law.

Previously, the BKKPN Kupang Coordinator for the Gili Trawangan, Meno, and Air Working Areas (Teramina) Martanina said that his party had submitted the results of the re-data collection activities to the Directorate General of PKRL KKP on July 29, 2024. His party has also explained the data on the results of the field to the Directorate General of PKRL KKP.
"So, we have finished controlling the use of marine space and we have conveyed the results to the Directorate General of PKRL KKP," said Martanina.
In general, Martanina said that the results of the re-data collection of BKKPN still found mud deposits covering coral reefs in the Gili Trawangan waters with a thickness of up to one meter.
The silt, which was recorded with an area of 1,660 square meters, was found around the pipe installation point belonging to PT TCN which salved from the ground to the seabed. BKKPN strongly suspects that the silt deposit came from the former installation of a pipe belonging to TCN.
PT TCN is a private company that collaborates with PDAM Amerta Dayan Gunung, North Lombok Regency, in providing clean water in the Gili Trawangan tourist area.
The company provides clean water from sea water distillation by applying the "Sea Water Reverse Osmosis" (SWRO) method.
The case of marine ecosystem damage in Gili Trawangan waters which is suspected to be the impact of the installation of pipes belonging to PT TCN is also included in the handling of the NTB Police.
The police handled the case based on a follow-up to a community group report from Surak Agung, North Lombok.
