125 KM Niki Sejahtera Fire Victims In Masalembo Waters Successfully Implanted Bakamla
BANJARMASIN - The Maritime Security Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bakamla RI) evacuated 125 passengers and crew of KM Niki Sejahtera who caught fire in Masalembo waters, in the Java Sea, Thursday, August 1."All crew members and passengers were evacuated to Bakamla's KN Sea Lion-402 in a safe condition and at 12.30 WITA today arrived at Trisakti Port, Banjarmasin," said Head of the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) I Putu Sudayana in Banjarmasin, Antara, Friday, August 2.The Niki Sejahtera Motorboat (KM) is carrying out a voyage from Surabaya, East Java to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The ship with a length of 131 meters and a tonnage of 9,982 GT carried 44 crew members (ABK) and 81 passengers.The other cargo consisted of nine tronton trucks, 26 large trucks, seven small trucks, six private cars, four motorbikes, and five 3B three-wheeled vehicles.He explained that the results of the temporary report of KM Niki Sejahtera experiencing a fire in the waters of Masalembo due to the ship's "car deck" fire.Masalembo waters are included in the administrative area of Sumenep Regency, Madura Island, East Java.
In a search and rescue operation (SAR), the Banjarmasin Basarnas deployed 19 personnel assisted by other maritime elements, such as Lanal Banjarmasin, the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the South Kalimantan Police, and other relevant agencies.
