Zita Anjani Doesn't Delete Starbucks Photo Post In Makkah: That's Criticism

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PAN faction, Zita Anjani, explained the reason she did not delete the photo upload holding Starbucks coffee glass while Umrah in Makkah.

This photo post previously drew protests from netizens. With this photo uploaded, Zita is considered not to side with Palestine over the Israeli military offensive.

Zita clarified that she actually uploaded a photo of Starbucks products as a form of criticism. According to him, when many people called for a boycott of pro-Israel products, Starbucks outlets were still operating in the Holy Land.

"I mean posting because I want to complain. What is it like, the government of Saudi Arabia? In Dubai or Abu Dhabi, please. But this is the Holy Land, Makkah and Medina. How can Starbucks add more," Zita told reporters, Friday, August 2nd.

Zita also emphasized that she did not buy the coffee. The daughter of the General Chairperson of PAN Zulkifli Hasan explained that the coffee was one of the dishes at a hotel restaurant that she stopped at near the Grand Mosque.

Zita admitted that she did not know that the coffee served was Starbucks.

"Once I arrived, I didn't get coffee from the hotel that came. It was Starbucks coffee. That's why I took a photo, because I was angry, actually. I took a photo of the coffee, in the caption (Instagram) I wrote, 'again dinner was given coffee, what do you think?'," he explained.

However, netizens who saw Zita's post did not catch the claimed message. "I tried to explain, but it's okay. Sometimes it's just time to explain," he added.

In April, Zita uploaded a photo holding a Starbucks logo coffee cup while on Makkah on her personal Instagram account.

Netizens are busy surging at Zita in the comments column for the photo upload. They think the chairman of the PAN DPP supports pro-Israel products.
