Pengacara Bantah Putra El Chapo Culik Gembong Narkoba Mexico El Mayo
JAKARTA - The jailed son of the Sinaloa Cartel kingpin, Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, did not kidnap drug kingpin Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, a lawyer for the Guzman family, following a report that said Joaquin Guzman Lopez betrayed 'El Mayo' and brought him to the United States.
Guzman Lopez and Zambada, one of the most influential drug dealers in Mexican history, were arrested last week by US agents, after their plane landed at a small airfield in New Mexico.
After the arrest, made without the knowledge of the Mexican government, speculation emerged whether the two had given up or Guzman Lopez had trapped Zambada.
"The kidnapping is impossible," Guzman's family lawyer, Jose Luis Gonzalez, told Radio Formula.
"No, no. Los Chapitos obeyed their father's rules and followed the usual policies," he said, when asked if Guzman Lopez might have betrayed 76-year-old Zambada.
El Chapo's four sons, known as "Los Chapitos," inherited their father's faction in the cartel.
Reuters contacted Gonzalez but was unable to comment immediately.
His statement contradicts Zambada's lawyer, Frank Perez, who said on Saturday, Guzman Lopez was "culled up" by his client.
Perez said Guzman Lopez and six men in military uniforms ambushed Zambada near the capital of Sinaloa State, Culiacan, forcing him on a plane to the United States without his consent.
Both Guzman Lopez and Zambada have pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking charges in US courts.
