10 People Killed At A Supermarket In Colorado In The United States

JAKARTA - The mass shooting that killed 10 people took place in a supermarket in Colorado, United States, Monday, March 21 local time.

The dead included a policeman who first arrived on the scene. A suspect was successfully secured with an injured condition, authorities said in a statement according to Reuters.

Police gave few first-hand details of the shooting and no known motive for the violence, which occurred at around 3 p.m local time. The location of the shooting was the King Soopers supermarket in the Table Mesa area in Boulder, a city east of the Rockies about 45 km northwest of Denver, United States.

The brutal act marked the second deadly mass shooting in the US in a week, following armed violence last Tuesday that killed eight people, including six Asian women, at three locations in and around Atlanta. A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murder.

"10 people were killed in the attack on the King Soopers supermarket. Among them was 51-year-old police officer Eric Talley, who he said was the first to respond to the shooting, about 2 miles from the main campus of the University of Colorado", said Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold.

Police said the suspected gunman, who was arrested, was believed to be the only person with serious injuries who had survived the bloodshed.

Video footage of scenes previously broadcast by television stations showed a bearded, shirtless man in boxer shorts being carried out of the shop in handcuffs before he was placed on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. The detained man appeared to have bleeding legs and limped when he walked.
