Turkish Airlines Will Free Wi-Fi Services For Passengers Throughout Its Fleet

JAKARTA - Turkish Airlines last Monday announced plans to offer free and unlimited Wi-Fi services to all passengers in its entire fleet within two years.

The airline signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Turkish state-owned satellite company Turksat and its subsidiary, TCI Aircraft Interiors, at Farnborough Airshow held this week in the UK.

"Stay connected at 30,000 feet high! In collaboration with TCI Aircraft Interiors and Turksat, we will bring free and unlimited Wi-Fi to our entire fleet by the end of 2025. We are integrating the latest on-plane connectivity technology to keep you online," Turkish Airlines tweeted in an upload on X., reported Daily Sabah July 23.

The signing, which was carried out at the air show, was attended by Turkish Chairman Airlines Ahmet Bolit, national airline general manager Bilal Ek Wayi and Turksat general manager Hasan Höseyin Ertok.

Within the scope of the project, which is expected to begin at the end of this year and be completed in two years, the airline plans to strengthen its existing fleet with the latest in-flight connectivity technology (IFC) and equip new aircraft with more efficient IFC technology.

In this way, the company will be able to offer IFC services indefinitely, without interruption, and faster to all passengers, free of charge, by expanding the IFC services it offers across most of its fleet to its entire fleet.

It is known that Turkish Airlines carried 40.6 million passengers in the January-June period, up 4.8 percent when compared to the same period in 2023, the airline said earlier this month.

The company operates a total of 458 aircraft, including passenger and cargo aircraft, and has announced plans to double its fleet by nearly 2033.
