Sheng Lihao And Huang Yuting Donate First Gold For China At The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA - Two young Chinese shooting athletes, Sheng Lihao and Huang Yuting, won the first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with an impressive victory in the final number air rifle 10 meters mixed team, Saturday 27 July. The final, which took place at the Ch ruoux Shooting Center, marked the start of the 2024 Olympic competition.

Sheng Lihao, who won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics at the age of 16, alongside 17-year-old Huang Yuting, showed a calm and mature performance to beat South Korean pair Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun, with a score of 16-12.

With this victory, China managed to defend their title from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they also won this number on their debut.

China took the lead with a score of 6-2 thanks to the extraordinary accuracy of Sheng, who helped them maintain control. Even though South Korea tried to bounce back with a strong performance, China remained in the lead and finally secured the gold medal with a 16-12 win thanks to a decisive shot in the final round.

I feel very happy, said Sheng after winning gold. This match is quite difficult, but being able to perform with your best personal performance is very helpful.

When asked about this achievement in his career, Sheng replied: 'This is just the beginning for me.'

Meanwhile Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev from Kazakhstan, won bronze medals and became their country's first medal in the shootout since 1996. Satpayev expressed his happiness. I feel very good. It was my first Olympic competition, and I got third place, so it's perfect," he said.
