Dominik Szoboszlai Scores A Strategic Goal, Arne Slot Reveals The Secrets Of Liverpool's Victory!
JAKARTA - Liverpool coach, Arne Slot, picked up some positive things from his team's 1-0 win against Real Betis in a pre-season match at Heinz Field, Pennsylvania, United States, Saturday, July 27 morning WIB. Liverpool's single goal was scored by Dominik Szoboszlai in the 34th minute after receiving assists from Mohammed Salah.
"I think there are some positive things and of course there are some things we have to improve on. But the positive thing is that we still recorded a clean sheet. I think we conceded just one big chance and it happened about the last 10 minutes of the game," said Slot, quoted from the club's official website, Saturday.
"So we controlled the game very well and on the sidelines we did some good attacks where we created some good chances and scored a good goal. That's the positive side of this game," he added.
In this match, Slot chose to use a formation without a striker because the players who used to play the position, namely Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota, had not joined the team after the Euro or European Cup 2024 event. Instead, the Dutch coach fielded two players who played the role of 'number 10', namely Szoboszlai and Harvey Elliott.

"I think all season you will see us play with real strikers. But right now we don't have any players available and then with Dom and Harvey Elliott we have two No.10 players," he explained.
"So that's one of the reasons why we played with a double 10 compared to a striker. It might be because of the need. But for other styles of play by trying to build from behind, that's our style, controlling the game, not letting counter-attacks go on and on," he continued.
Furthermore, the Reds will return to pre-season matches in the United States against Arsenal at Lincoln Financial Field, Pennsylvania, on Thursday 1 August at 06.30 WIB.
