Android Auto Now Needs A Higher Android System
JAKARTA Android Auto, a system that makes smartphones connected to the head of a car unit, has new requirements. With this new rule, Android phones that can be used will be more limited. A few years ago, all types of mobile phones could use Android Auto as long as the system ran Android 6.0 which was named Marshmallow. However, this rule was changed in July 2022 to Android 8.0 by the name of the Oreo. Now, Google is increasing the operating system (OS) which is compatible or can connect with the head of the car unit. Through the Android Auto support page, Google says that the lowest system that can be used is Android 9.0 or Pie. This rule applies to the use of cables. Apart from paying attention to the OS, users should also know if the car is compatible with the device used. "Look if your car or stereo is compatible with Android Auto." If the user still wants to use the cable, make sure to use a high-quality USB cable with a length below one meter. Google prohibits the use of an USB hub or an extension cable because Android Auto will not be able to run.

To use Android Auto via wireless connection, users must use devices with higher systems. The minimum requirement for wireless connections is Android 11.0 or Android 10.0 specifically for Pixel and Samsung Galaxy. This update may not have an impact on most users. Reporting from 9to5google, only six percent of active devices still use the Android Oreo system. Data shared by Android Studio is taken from July this year.
