YouTube Announces Three Updates To Maintain Audience Mental Health

JAKARTA - In order to provide a safe platform for children, as well as support the health of people of all ages, YouTube announced three updates to meet the needs of teens while using YouTube.

First, YouTube developed additional security for content recommendations, in order to limit repeated recommendations from videos related to certain sensitive categories such as social comparisons and aggression.

Next, working with experts on issues such as suicide, self-harm, and crisis response, YouTube updated the Crisis Resource Panel, which will help viewers pause for a moment and explore health topics, as they search for this sensitive topic on YouTube.

Spectators will continue to see resources for the third-party crisis hotline strikingly, YouTube will also suggest an urge to direct search requests to topics such as "self-love" and "landing training".

Finally, YouTube has also redesigned its Rest reminders to make it more visually visible on viewers' feeds across long videos and Shorts, and appear more frequently on the audience feed.

"Our goal is to help viewers, especially teenagers, set restrictions on managing their online time and rest when needed," the company said, quoted Monday, July 22.
