Mazda Introduces Kurumie Art At GIIAS 2024

JAKARTA - PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), Mazda Brand Holder Agent (APM) in Indonesia introduced Japanese handicrafts, Kurumie, to GIIAS 2024 visitors.

Located at the Mazda booth at Hall 7A, ICE BSD City, Tangerang, as many as 20 participants including the Kurumie lover community and visitors participated in the workshop which was demonstrated by Kurumie's artist, Linda Khang.

In the process, Kurumie reflects Japanese values such as accuracy, fineness of detail, and beautiful aesthetics. Like the artist Kurumie who combines cutting, gluing, and folding washi or chiyogami papers on patterns, Mazda also combines technology and innovation with an attractive design.

For Mazda, car development is a form of art, as represented through Kaicho's philosophy in car interior design.

"Mazda really appreciates the beauty and detail in the design and development of its cars. This is in line with values such as accuracy, fine detail, and beautiful aesthetics in Kurumie crafts. These values are also reflected in various aspects of Mazda's philosophy and design approach, which inspired us to present Kurumie at GIIAS 2024," said Product Trainer Assistant Manager of PT Eurokars Group Indonesia (Mazda Indonesia) Yogantara Partyano Wijaya, to the media crew, some time ago.

Mazda uses the Kaicho concept in their interior design, which means harmony or alignment. This concept involves selection of complementary materials and textures, as well as fine lighting to create harmony and beauty in the interior of the car. Kurumie, with attention to detail and beauty, reflects this philosophy.

Yogantara said Kurumie showed the artist's creativity in bringing different elements together into a complete work. Each piece of cloth or paper is carefully selected and cut to produce the desired visual effects, reflecting the accuracy and beauty of the work.

"This is reflected in the philosophy of Kaicho Mazda, where the selection of various ingredients and textures complements each other to detail, so that the interior of the car looks like a beautiful and harmonious art," he added.

As is known, Kurumie is a traditional Japanese handicraft that has existed since the Edo era. Kurumie is a 3D image made of foam or cardboard wrapped in washi paper, traditional Japanese paper. However, over time, the use of expensive washi paper began to be replaced by chiyogami paper.
