JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that on Monday, July 22, 2024, most areas in Indonesia will be thick cloudy and potentially hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning, even four of which are on alert warnings.
BMKG forecaster Ida Pramuwardani in her report explained that the four areas that must be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning include North Maluku (Central Halmahera), West Papua (Manokwari, Tambrauw, Bintuni Bay, South Sorong, Arfak Mountains, Maybrat).
Then, North Kalimantan (Nunukan, Malinau, Tarakan, Tana Tidung), and Central Sulawesi (Parigi Mountong, Sigi, Poso, Morowali).
Early warnings due to rain accompanied by lightning also have the potential to target a number of districts/cities ranging from Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, Manado, Mamuju, Palu, Jayawijaya, Ternate, and Nabire with temperatures 21-27 Celsius.
Heavy cloudy weather predicts that it will occur in the cities of Banda Aceh, Medan, Bengkulu, Palembang, Serang, Banjarmasin, Denpasar, Kupang, and Makassar with temperatures of 25-30 Celsius.
Cities that have the potential to be hit by lightning include Pekanbaru City, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi Pangkal Pinang, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Gorontalo, Sorong, Ambon, and Manokwari with temperatures 26-28 degrees Celsius.
