Maersk Rental Ship Caught Fire Off Indian Coast, Filipino Seafarer Dies
JAKARTA - Maersk reported a fire on one of its chartered vessels sailing from Mundra, off India's west coast to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The fire occurred as a result of a short circuit that resulted in the explosion and death of a seafarer from the Philippines, local media said. It was reported that there were 21 crew members on board.
The ship is in stable condition, the company said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

The fire was reported at around 14.30 p.m., July 19, local time. The crew handled the fire with the help of Indian authorities.
